The Montpelier Foundation's primary mission is to present the lasting legacy of James Madison as Father of the U.S. Constitution, architect of the Bill of Rights, and fourth president of the United States. To accomplish this, the Foundation is developing Montpelier as a place to learn about Madison's legacy and his vision of a constitutional government that is upheld by engaged citizens. The Montpelier Foundation, a private, nonprofit organization, is the steward of this national historic landmark.
